Coca-Cola Launches A Vending Machine Subscription In Japan
[ad_1]
While many of us have seen vending machines, there is pretty much no other country around the world that is as obsessed with vending machines as Japan. The country plays home to vending machines for all kinds of things, from your typical drinks, to snacks, to food items, to clothing, and so on.
So it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Coca-Cola has chosen Japan to launch their vending machine subscription service. According to a report from Nikkei (paywall), customers in Japan who love their Coke will be able to subscribe through the Coke On smartphone app in which for 2,700 yen (about $25) a month, they’ll be able to get themselves a can of Coke a day from the 340,000 Coca-Cola vending machines located throughout the country.
For those worried about their sugar intake, don’t worry because this subscription is pretty much applicable to other drinks made by the company, which includes unsweetened tea and black coffee. For $25 a month, that amounts to less than a dollar a day. Given that the average price of a Coke can in Japan is around 140 yen (~$1.30), this actually works out to be a pretty decent deal.
The new Coke On Pass subscription service will be launching this May with a promotional offer of 1,350 yen ($12.40) to try and attract more subscribers. It’s an interesting idea, but what do you think? Would you be keen on having a Coke subscription?
