Gamers might have been a little bit bummed to hear that Square Enix has decided to cancel the mobile reboot of Final Fantasy XI. However, there is some good news. No, the game isn’t being uncancelled, but if you want to play a Final Fantasy game on your smartphone, you might be interested in checking out the remastered version of Final Fantasy VIII.

The game was actually released a couple of years ago for other platforms, but it looks like it is now available for both iOS and Android devices. The original Final Fantasy VIII was released back in 1999 so clearly this is a very old game, but the remastered version should introduce slightly updated graphics, but you can definitely tell it has signs of aging.

The version does come with some differences from the original, such as the option for a 3x speed boost, toggling battle encounters on or off, battle assist, and so on. However, there are no player mods supported and Chocobo World is not playable either, so gamers will have to make do without those features.

The game is priced at $17, which is kind of pricey as far as mobile games are concerned, but this is a full-fledged game so it might be worth the money if you think you’ll be able to get a lot of fun out of it, so head on over to the App Store or Google Play if you’d like to get your hands on it.
