There is a reason why when there are new updates, not everyone rushes out to get their hands on it. This is because there are times when an update actually poses more of a problem than a solution, so some people wait it out to give it some time for others to test and report back before updating.

One of the more recent Windows 10 updates is a good example of this, where the updates KB5000842 and KB5001330 were found to be causing issues when gaming. For those who thankfully did not update their computers, the updates were said to cause issues like stuttering, general instability, reduced FPS, and lag in Windows. It affected all manner of computers, such as those using AMD and Intel hardware, as well as NVIDIA’s GPUs.

The good news is that if you have been affected, Microsoft has since managed to address this using the Known Issue Rollback feature. According to Microsoft, “This issue is resolved using Known Issue Rollback (KIR). Please note that it might take up to 24 hours for the resolution to propagate automatically to consumer devices and non-managed business devices. Restarting your device might help the resolution apply to your device faster.”

If you aren’t able to take advantage of KIR, then you might need to uninstall the update completely. You can check out our guide on how to uninstall Windows 10 updates to learn more.
