Apple Warns Of iPad And Mac Shortages In Second Half Of 2021

Cook’s comments were made in response to a question asked about the current global chip shortage, and how it might affect companies such as Apple. When asked when supply constraints might ease, Cook said that they were unable to provide a good answer, but said that Apple would do their best to meet product demand.
According to Cook, “Most of the issue is legacy nodes, not just in our industry but other industries as well. In order to answer that question accurately, we would need to know the true demand from each player and how that changes over the next few months, so it’s difficult to give a good answer. We have a good handle on our demand, but what everybody else is doing, I don’t know. We will do our best, that’s what I can tell you.”
That being said, we’re not sure if these shortages apply to already announced products, or future products. Apple is rumored to be developing the M2 chipset which is expected to find its way into the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro refreshes as well as the 27-inch iMac.
