As it stands, Fortnite is not officially available through Apple’s App Store. The removal of the game was due to Epic violating Apple’s App Store rules, which later led to the lawsuit between Apple and Epic. What’s interesting about this lawsuit is that it looks like we might have an idea of when the game could return to iOS.

However, before you get too excited at the idea of Fortnite returning to iOS devices, we do want to note that Fortnite’s return is through NVIDIA’s GeForce Now game streaming service, and that its release is set for potentially October. This was actually revealed by NVIDIA’s Aashish Patel during a cross-examination during the trial, where he revealed that October was a potential date for the release of the game.

It is an interesting loophole of another loophole. This is because while Apple states that they do allow game streaming apps on iOS, the restrictions the company has in place make it a bit tricky. As a workaround, companies behind these streaming services have figured out a way to make their games playable and streamable through the Safari browser on iOS devices.

This means that they don’t need to jump through hoops to get an app approved, while being able to service iOS users at the same time. That being said, while Patel does state that October is a potential date, it isn’t confirmed yet, so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet until an official announcement has been made.
