Typing on a smartwatch is hardly the most pleasant of experiences. The small screen and the awkward positioning on the wrist means that typing out long messages can be tedious. However, if you’re looking for a way to better type on your smartwatch, Google has announced that its Gboard keyboard app is now available for Wear OS devices.

According to Google, the Gboard for Wear OS app will support multiple forms of input, like its smartphone equivalent. This includes tapping out the letters one by one if you prefer, or using gestures to swipe between characters, or you can even use voice input if you’d rather speak your words out loud and have it transcribed into text.

While some of these input methods aren’t new, Gboard does have an added advantage of using suggestions and corrections so that you won’t have to spend so long tapping or swiping on your wrists, and you will be able to quickly finish up sentences and send it. Google also points out that Gboard will support the same languages that Wear OS supports, so if you’re using Wear OS in your own native language, Gboard should support it too, so you don’t have to worry about that for now.

The update to Gboard that makes it compatible with Wear OS should already be live, so if you own a Wear OS smartwatch and want to check it out, make sure you’ve the latest version of Gboard and you should be good to go.
