Apple Music For Android Hints At New Lossless Streaming Option
[ad_1]
The quality of Apple Music streams at the moment are pretty decent. It isn’t the highest quality compared to some of the competition, but it’s more than enough for most people, unless you own some higher-end audiophile grade equipment and you can tell the difference, but otherwise, we reckon that it should be good enough for the majority.
However, as some of you might have heard, Apple could be getting ready to launch a new “HiFi” option which will offer lossless audio. For our audiophile readers who are hoping that this could be true, you might be in luck because according to 9to5Google, the teardown of the Apple Music APK for Android has revealed that Apple could indeed be working on a new lossless streaming option or tier for Apple Music.
This is according to the APK teardown where based on their findings, it seems that there have been multiple references made to “lossless audio”. There is also mention of a “high-res lossless” for those who want even higher quality audio. The difference is that with the lossless option, Apple Music will be streamed in ALAC up to 24-bit/48kHz, while higher-res lossless will be streamed in ALAC up to 24-bit/192kHz.
We’re not sure if this will be offered to all users or if it will be a new paid tier for Apple Music, but if we had to guess, the latter makes more sense. There is no word on when this new service will be launched, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
