Apple Watch Series 3 Owners Need To Restore Their Devices Before Updating
[ad_1]
One of the problems that Apple Watch Series 3 owners have been having is that whenever there is a new watchOS update, they are usually greeted with an error message claiming that their watch does not have enough space. Users usually find themselves having to reset their smartwatches in order to install updates.
However, a report from 9to5Mac has revealed that starting in iOS 14.6, it seems that Apple will now prompt users to restore their devices before updating. Prior to this, users would try to fix the problem by deleting apps to free up space, but for the most part this doesn’t work (speaking as an Apple Watch Series 3 owner myself). Usually a factory reset is necessary in order to update.
However, with iOS 14.6, Apple has decided to be more direct and now prompts users to restore their devices if they want to update their smartwatch. This seems to be unique to the Series 3, namely due to the fact that the GPS-only model comes with 8GB of storage, versus the newer models that come with more storage and don’t have this problem.
As 9to5Mac points out, this new prompt means that Apple won’t be trying to fix the problem and are simply pointing users towards a rather troublesome solution. If you don’t want to deal with this, then we guess maybe it’s time to consider an upgrade.
