Ahead of WWDC 2021, there were reports and rumors that Apple might actually debut new MacBook Pros at the event. Clearly that did not happen, much to the disappointment of some we imagine, so the question is when can we expect to see Apple’s rumored redesigned MacBook Pros?

According to a report from DigiTimes (paywall), we might have to wait until Q3 or 2021. The report claims that Apple’s suppliers are expected to begin shipment of the new MacBook Pros in the third quarter of the year, meaning that this should take place from July to September. However, as MacRumors points out, it is unclear if this is for individual components or for the entire laptop itself.

This seems to corroborate an earlier report which claims that the new MacBook Pro is expected to arrive in the second half of the year. Given Apple’s schedule for their events in a single year, usually we see Mac-related announcements towards the tail-end of the year. This was the case with the 16-inch MacBook Pro that debuted late 2019, and also Apple’s first series of M1 Macs that also debuted late 2020, so it makes sense that they would keep to that schedule for any other Mac-related announcements.

This means that there is a chance that the components that are being shipped are for the individual components and that assembly will take place leading up towards the announcement. Either way, assuming Apple keeps to schedule, don’t expect to see these new MacBook Pros anytime soon.
