Apple has been kind of neglecting its iPad mini. The tablet has received upgrades to its hardware over time, but it hasn’t been particularly exciting, at least not iPad Pro level kind of exciting. However, if the rumors are to be believed, that could change with the next-gen iPad mini.

Thanks to renders created by RendersByIan for Jon Prosser’s FrontPageTech.com website, we might have a better idea of what to expect from the next-gen iPad mini. According to Prosser, these renders were put together based on multiple sources which includes alleged hands-on images he’s seen, schematics, CAD files, and so on, suggesting that this isn’t just a concept rendering but what the actual tablet could look like.

It is also based on an earlier report from Bloomberg which claims that Apple will ditch the home button for the new iPad mini and that it will feature slimmer bezels and a body design more in-line with Apple’s current design language and the iPad Pro. The end result is a tablet that looks like a mini version of the iPad Pro, which isn’t a bad thing.

We’ve said this before, but we think that the iPad mini is actually the perfect size for a tablet. It’s big enough where you can watch videos comfortably, but not so big that you find it troublesome to bring with you on the go. At the moment there is no word on when the new iPad mini will be launched, so we’ll just have to remain patient.
