The other day, Spotify updated its app for the Apple Watch where it would now support offline playback and downloads. It looks like Tidal doesn’t want to be left behind because the company has since released their own app for the Apple Watch that comes with similar functionality like offline playback.

This is useful because prior to this, users who wanted to listen to their music from their smartwatch would usually need to have it linked to their phones for internet connection. However, with support for offline playback, it can be used without your phone or when you’re in an area without internet connection.

This is most definitely not a new feature because Apple Music already supports it and Spotify too, so at the very least Tidal is playing catch up. It’s interesting because before this, Tidal was seen as being kind of separate from Apple Music and Spotify as the company chooses to focus more on higher quality audio streams.

However, recently Apple announced their own lossless audio streaming and without extra costs to subscribers, meaning that Tidal definitely needs to step their game up if they don’t want to be left behind. Spotify is also said to be preparing their own lossless streams but they have yet to officially announce it.
