A while ago, Facebook introduced reactions. These reactions allowed users to express themselves on posts without actually writing anything, so for example you could use the laughing expression for a post you find funny, a heart/love reaction, an angry reaction, and so on.

Now it looks like Twitter could be doing the same. This is according to researcher Jane Manchun Wong who discovered that Twitter is working on a reaction-like system for tweets. Right now it seems that the development of the feature is still in the early stages as it appears that Twitter hasn’t created all the necessary icons yet, but the concept is there.

In its current form, Twitter seems to be testing out five different reactions – likes, cheers, hmm, sad, and haha. We’re not sure if there are more to come or if this is it, but it does give us an idea of what we might be able to expect. Reactions are actually a pretty good system because it can give us an idea on how most people might view a post.

It also allows users to share their feelings and opinions without necessarily having to write it down, which is useful if you’d rather not get into online debates and arguments. That being said, there is no word on when this feature will be rolled out to users, but we’ll keep an eye out for it.
