Analyst Believes Apple Watch AssistiveTouch Could Be Used To Control The Apple Glasses

There have been rumors that claim that Apple could be working on smart glasses. These glasses have been rumored to debut in the next few years, but analyst Neil Cybart seems to think that we might already be looking at Apple laying some of the foundations for it, such as the Apple Watch’s AssistiveTouch feature.

For those unfamiliar, AssistiveTouch was announced recently and is designed to be an accessibility feature that lets people interact with the Apple Watch through gestures like clenching your fist. However, Cybart believes that AssistiveTouch could be one of the ways that Apple could use to allow users to control the Apple Glasses.

Cybart drew parallels from a Facebook presentation a few months ago where they revealed how they are researching using a smartwatch as an input method for AR glasses, and how a few months later, Apple announced AssisitiveTouch. Of course, all of this is just speculation for now and might not necessarily be true, but it does sound plausible.

Giving users a way to control their smart glasses without having to reach for it and to touch it makes a lot of sense. We would have assumed that smartphones would be used as a controller, but for those with a smartwatch, why not? In any case, we’re probably a few years from it being a reality, if at all, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
