The latest version of Instagram is a disapointment. So much wasted space!

Recently, Instagram updated itself where the social media platform introduced some features designed to help protect its younger users. However, what better way to keep kids away from the unwanted advances of adults by creating a social network that’s just kids only, right? Turns out Facebook could be thinking about it.

A report from BuzzFeed News has revealed that Facebook could be considering building a kids-only version of Instagram. Basically this version of Instagram will only be usable by those aged 13 and below. Instagram head Adam Mosseri has confirmed that this is something the company is exploring.

In a statement made to BuzzFeed News, Mosseri said, “We have to do a lot here, but part of the solution is to create a version of Instagram for young people or kids where parents have transparency or control. It’s one of the things we’re exploring.” That being said, just because it is designed for kids doesn’t necessarily make it safe.

We’ve seen many instances of how kids can be mean to each other, so while it might address some of the problems of having kids use the internet, it’s not necessarily an end-all solution. A good example would be YouTube Kids, where despite being billed for kids, there have been moments where adult content has managed to sneak past YouTube’s algorithms.
