Earlier this year during CES 2021, Razer unveiled Project Hazel. For those who missed it, Project Hazel is a smart mask that comes with protective features designed to help keep bad things in the air out of our bodies. It was more of a proof of concept at the time of launch, but Razer really wants to make it a reality.

Speaking to Yahoo Finance UK, Razer’s CEO Min-Liang Tan said that the company is fully invested into making these masks a reality and that they will be going into production. The mask was initially born to be a sustainable alternative to the current disposable masks we use to protect ourselves against the coronavirus.

However, according to Tan, “We’ve realised that even with vaccinations we are hearing you still have to be masked up because there is still the risk factor that even if you’re vaccinated you still need to be incredibly careful. Secondly, there are also many countries that are unlikely that are going to get the whole [scale] of vaccinations in the next year or even two so travelling everyone should be very careful.”

He says with that in mind, Razer has decided that in order to solve the issue of disposable masks and sustainability, they will proceed with making Project Hazel a reality. It is unclear when Project Hazel will actually be made available for purchase or how much it could cost, but it is something to look forward to.
